Rolling like thunder under the covers
Jul. 22nd, 2008 09:41 pmSo. The concert.
It was amazing. I don't really know how to describe it.
We got to the fairgrounds at about 6:30 pm and my parents wanted to park, and then go across the street to shop. Something told me that was a bad idea so I urged them not to. We ended up hanging around the fairgrounds instead with all the people (10,5000 attended the concert), and there were all the foodstands open that are usually at the fair. Got some food, mom did the usual amount of bitching about everything - the traffic, the people, security checking tickets before having people park, her hamburger, the crowd, dad existing, all that.
We were told no cameras in the concert, so I took some pics just outside and around the area. We asked all around to make sure...but then were told as we finally went int to our seats "A small digital camera is allowed. But you cannot return to your cars after we rip your ticket" and then the bitch ripped our tickets. I'd like to set a rocket off in her ass. HEY IT WAS THE ROCKETMAN TOUR.
Anyway, not having the camera was actually good, it would have been another thing to keep track of during the dancing and shit x3
NOW ONTO THE IMPORTANT MAN HIMSELF: ELTON JOHN.
OH MY GOD HE KICKED ASS.
Seriously, the man fucking just..WOW. He plays that piano like you would not believe, and he didn't miss a note while singing/playing. I'm always a bit hesitant about live performances on like..late shows and such, because they're live - no time to pretty up/edit that CD and get rid of mistakes.
But Elton John just...perfection. He didn't miss anything. And he was really cool xDD I know I sound like some swooning fangirl lol. He was pointing at people/grups of people when they did things like wave their boas or whatever. I had a black feather boa on so after he did Rocketman (which sounded better live btw, he adds to it so much and just..WOW) I started waving that thing in the air in circles and since I'm tall it was up above other people's hands xD So he crossed the stage to our side (or section was off to the right) and pointed lol. I was like "YAY I MADE HIM POINT POINT MORE MORE MORE"
He played...gosh...I don't know what the opener was, he said it was/was from Madman Across the Water. Then his list was Tiny Dancer, Levon, Rocketman, Your Song, Benny and the Jets, Candle in the Wind, Sacrifice (which I guess he doesn't do much), Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Daniel, Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me, I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues, I'm Still Standing, Pinball Wizard (there was a giant inflatable ball being tossed around by the lucky people in the front and center rows) and the most hopping of all, Crocodile Rock. He started it all quiet but when he got the first few notes down like everyone screamed xDD And the audience got to do tha "La la la la laaa" part! SO MUCH FUN. I can't remember the names of the other songs!
Edit: This site has them all I think, or at least the ones I did not name - http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080722/LIVING/80722002
But yea. He was awesome. I love the way he said "Mitchigin" when introducing the band he plays with. Man that was cool shit. I still am in awe of how damn good he is.
It's no wonder he is a fucking legend.
I wanted to squee more, but I'll never be able to convey...just how awesome it was being there. Even if I was in a row off to the side and nowehere near the front, couldn't take my camera, and so on. On the way home I found myself unable to even listen to music because there was just no way anything could compare with what he played.
I was sad it had to end. I bought a shirt of the tour, expensive, but I was NOT leaving without a souvenir for the first concert I have ever been to.
Now I'm including a link to pics take of the concert since I don't have my own. His outfit was pretty damn cool.

The only bad part is, right now I am a bit bummed to think I was there 24 hours ago and tonight I'm just sitting here! WHY DID IT HAVE TO END. Oh well, friends on the messengers makes it better.
If he comes back to VT again, and he claims he will, I am so camping out for those tickets. I guarantee the Flynn will know better next time and the site won't go down, so I'll probably have to set up a tent on the sidewalk 3 days in advance.
And that's really perfectly all right with me.
